Go ask the blind man, he saw it all!
The rakyat have had enough of being
taken for fools by leaders who have been craftily economical with the
truth and woefully deficient in their oft repeated promises of 'janji
akan di tepati'
And so it has come to this!
Our nation now has leaders whose use and abuse of political power for personal and political gain has gone beyond even what those in Umno had thought possible. The question to be asked is this: Has Umno lost hold over a country it has governed the past half century, or more critically, has it also lost its grip on reality and is unable to see its impending downfall as arrogance and corruption seals its fate even as public support for it is waning with bewildering speed in the aftermath of 1MDB?
As Umno slides into decay and deservedly totters on the brink of ruination, its leader Najib Razak is full of exalted self-concept and surrounds himself with people who make him feel good. Najib Razak is on the borderline between neurosis a psychosis. On one hand, he thinks his numerous 'transformation' agendas culminating in the 1MDB ventures has succeeded and he is on an exaggerated 'high', feels invulnerable and thinks he deserves to carry on as prime minister. His 'ability' to source for the alleged RM2.6 billion donation gives credence to his oft repeated insistence that 'Cash is King' and he is indeed King!
And yet he is unable to understand what 1MDB and the RM2.6 donation is now doing to his reputation as a leader. In his mind he is the noble Bugis warrior who will face anyone who does not see the good that he has done in government. He thinks that if he could get past 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion 'donation' he would reach the heroic stature of his late father and even surpass that of Mahathir. Umno and the people of Malaysia will then support him to go on to do bigger and better things for the nation.
But the narcissist in Najib Razak makes it difficult for him to empathise with the pain and suffering of the people of Malaysia. With Najib, it is not about Umno, not about the people of Malaysia and certainly not about Malaysia - it has always been about Najib Razak. Najib looks in the mirror and asks, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the most important Bugis warrior of them all? "And the answer is, "You, Najib Razak...you and Rosmah!".
This PM has dismissed his DPM and is now riding high on OPM (other people's money) to the consternation of an ex-PM under whose regime all checks and balances against these abuses had been summarily dismissed. This same ex-PM has lived to see the error of his ways, but insists that it is the personal character of the current PM that is to be blamed not his too successful an effort to consolidate all powers in the office of the PM for himself.
I suggest that the ex-PM try to understand the fundamental reasoning why men must be subject to the rule of law. Laws are rules that bind all people. Laws protect our general safety, and ensure our rights as citizens against abuses by other people, by organisations and by the government.
