ANN : WITHOUT DR M TO KEEP THEM UNDER CONTROL, SULTANS TO MAKE A POLITICAL COMEBACK UNDER NAJIB’S WEAK REGIME? IS THAT WHAT MALAYS, EVEN IN THE RURAL AREAS, WANT?

steadyaku47 comment : This is an article by ANN... I have been remiss in not sharing this post with you all when it was first posted. I saw it, I read it and it registered in my head that I should do my part in making it possible for many others to read it...but as I said, I have been remiss in not doing so....maaf...better late then never...so here it is:

However, the contents do not reflect the title. Instead, it was focused on highlighting the risk Dr M is exposed to. As the article pointed out, the current group of royal tea  were mostly teenagers when Dr M was the PM. They now recall with disdain what Dr M did when he removed the legal immunity of their fathers.

Pak, I want to share with you my thoughts on this matter and perhaps you can incorporate some of them in your next article.

Putting aside history - including how immigrants from Indonesia & Thailand set foot on the beaches of Malaya centuries ago and proclaimed themselves as superior beings - the royal tea, as self-proclaimed rulers in the country, are presently not doing much to protect the rakyat from the scandals and large-scale theft by politicians who cheated their way into Parliament.

When three of these rulers attended a customary ceremony (which existed among pre-Islamic Arabs who mingled it with pagan customs) performed on the grandchild of the PM, few had hopes that the 9 rulers are concerned about the rakyat. When 1.5 million of the rakyat petitioned the king to remove the PM, the plea fell on deaf ears. The rakyats are overlooked even when they are the ones who make available the annual purses for these rulers. To say that these rulers have been made to believe that only Umno can ensure their continued purses is not such a big  assumption.

In my humble opinion, the rulers should place as their top priority the safety and well-being of the rakyat. If you can't tell the man who swore on the Koran before you to vacate his post, then the man should forcefully be removed. If, as CIC of the army, you can't get your men to protect the country against politicians who are driving the economy of the country downhill, then what hopes do the rakyat have?

Surah 4:59 commands Muslims to "obey Allah, the Prophet, and those in charge among you". It does not mean that those in charge are entitled to receive uncontested obedience from the citizens. On the other hand, citizens must obey authorities established under the law of the land that does not violate God's law.

Show that you are above politics. Politicians come and go; the rakyat will always remain.

Protect the country and the rakyat.

Only then can the rakyat love their rulers without the need for threatening laws that compel them to show respect.
